We met with JK, a motorbike lover and tuner in Dubai. Here is what JK told ArabWheels.
1) When did your passion start, at what age, and who influenced you?
My passion for two-wheels started when I learned to ride a bicycle at the age of four, and was influenced by the sight of speeding motorcycles: the way it moved on two wheels and the sounds that came from the exhaust. That was it; I was hooked. I was and always will be interested in two-wheels.
2) List all of the special motorbikes you have owned since the age of 18.
My first motorcycle, after I got my driver’s license, was a 125cc Yamaha. Then, after a couple of years, I had the privilege of owning a few other motorcycles like the Yamaha YZF R1, v-max, a classic two-stroke Yamaha RD 350, a Yamaha yz125 two-stroke motocross. The v-max was very special to me, and now the Panigale 1199 is very close to the heart as well.
3) Where did you study: major and university?
I did my studies partly in the UAE and India, majoring in management studies.
4) What do you do in life? How old are you? Married or single, and how many kids?
I’m a marine technical consultant, 34 years old and single.
5) Do you think you will be teaching your fellows to follow your steps in tuning bikes and loving them?
I’ve always found it interesting to share my available proportion of maturing knowledge with anybody who has interest, love and respect for machines.
6) What do you love about motorbikes? And why have you chosen to tune the Ducati Panigale?
Motorcycles are and were made for soul therapy, and I always loved how they made me feel. Freedom, speed, wind, balance – everything at the twist of a throttle is pure bliss. The Ducati Panigale 1199 is the world’s most powerful production twin cylinder engine motorcycle and, hence, the weapon of choice. The machine was a real eye opener with superlative electronics technology and a magnetic personality. I’ve always had an addiction for personalizing the machines I’ve owned, making them stand out from the rest. With this one, though, I wanted each component to be not only functionally efficient, but also beautifully blended into a piece of art. Everything about this bike was to communicate power, elegance and dexterity. Most of what I did was an act of devotion to Panigale’s supreme performance and break-through design, especially the engine as a stressed member and a never before monocoque technology. My 1199 is simply the tribute of an aficionado acknowledging the extreme Italian benchmark!
7) When and how did you hear about ArabWheels, and what do you think of it?
I heard about ArabWheels from a friend who was a regular reader. After going through one issue, I was impressed with the overall quality and content of the magazine and the reviews it offers. A sure read for a petrol head!
