Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East showcased a new generation of electric vehicles and in-car connectivity at the 4th edition of the International Conference on Future Mobility. With a focus on ‘artificial intelligence and future mobility’, the conference took place at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi, and Mercedes-Benz was the Lead Sponsor.
Mercedes-Benz announced the new EQC model to the Middle East market – the first of ten all electric vehicles under its new products and technology brand EQ. During a press briefing at the conference by Christophe Vloebergh, CASE Implementation Manager at Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East, he addressed how the new model is a game changer and a symbol of the dawn of a new mobility era at Daimler.
“Our EQ cars are fully connected and integrate seamlessly into the electric ecosystem in the region” said Christophe Vloebergh. “The EQC has a seamless and modern design and it is the first ever model to incorporate all four fields of CASE: it is Connected, drives highly Automated, offers many e-mobility Services and, of course, is Electric.”
The EQC has combined power consumption: 22.2 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km (provisional figures). With its seamless clear design and color highlights typical of the brand, it is a pioneer for an avant-garde electric look while representing the design idiom of Progressive Luxury.
With respect to quality, safety and comfort the EQC is the Mercedes-Benz among electric vehicles, and highly convincing in the sum of its attributes. These are accompanied by dynamic performance, thanks to two electric motors at the front and rear axles with a combined output of 300 kW. A sophisticated operating strategy enables an electric range of more than 450 km according to NEDC (provisional figure). EQ also offers comprehensive services with Mercedes me connect, and makes electromobility convenient and suitable for day-to-day motoring.
Showcasing the future on connectivity, Mercedes-Benz also had the new A-Class on display – the first car to be introduced with a pioneering in-car experience: MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience). It has a fully-connected system with the ability to anticipate the drivers needs thanks to AI technology, creating an emotional connection between the vehicle, driver and passengers. The first AI voice-system will be introduced as standard equipment in the next compact car generation.
MBUX is a revolution of the user experience in the car. Emotively appealing showcasing features underline the comprehensibility of the control structure and thrill through brilliant 3-D maximum-resolution graphics which are rendered, i.e. calculated and displayed, in real time.
Providing customers with a virtual test drive at the event, Mercedes-Benz used the eMotion 2.0 seat to offer visitors virtual test drives.
