Editorial
March is possibly one of the busiest months on the
automotive calendar. The Geneva Motor Show took off to a great start with
plenty of unveilings including a few surprises.
Our cover car this month is the all new Volkswagen Touareg,
we had to take a few flights to Europe in order to test it for you in Italy’s
Tuscan region, and it was well worth the air miles as the second generation
Touareg capitalizes on the success of the first, while ironing out all its
minute imperfections, making it one of, if not the, most complete SUV to hit
the market this year.
Some of our editors also visited the old continent and give
you a taste of the luxurious Audi A8, and took to the UAE Deserts and back
roads to put the BMW X5M , and Renault Sherpa Trucks, civilian versions of
armored personnel and reconnaissance military vehicles, through their paces. And last of the drives, but not at the least,
is an extended drive with the new Kia Sorento.
We also take a look at GM’s latest edition of the Chevrolet
Corvette, named the Carbon, and appropriately has many of its components made
out of Carbon Fiber.
In our Volvo Safety feature we look at the revised and
heightened levels of safety the all new Volvo S60 brings to the market, again
proving that although Volvo is making progress in terms of style, Safety is
always at the top of the priority list.
On occasion of the Beirut Motor Show taking place this
month, we view some of the Lebanese Auto Dealers and some of their most
strategic models; followed by a run down through the most significant launches
that took place at the Geneva Motor Show.
We take a closer look at the Mercedes F800 Concept and 5 by
Peugeot, two of the most important concepts to grace the Geneva Convention Center.
We hope you enjoy this Issue as much as we enjoyed putting
it together. For our Lebanese readers we say; “Enjoy the Motor Show”, and for
all our readers we urge you to keep up with our news via our social networking
site, you can connect with us through; www.arabwheels.net.
